what’s up, may!?

Well, our little garden party/dinner went super well on Saturday.  It wasn’t overly stressful and everyone loved it, so I was quite pleased.  Thanks to my new Instagram app {yes, new.  I didn’t realize they had it for Android now!}, I even captured some fun pictures.

The lights!  Definitely the best part!

The tablescape

The centerpieces

The dessert–homemade ice cream {not made by me, but so delicious!}

The friends!

I would totally recommend doing something like this!  The weather was perfect {even in Florida!} and since our small group meetings are pot luck style, I didn’t have to stress about preparing a bunch of food–I just made it pretty.  We had our fire pit going and some tiki torches which also made it pretty cozy.  I would definitely do it again!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I wanted to share this great tutorial from Ez at Creature Comforts.  It would make a great MD gift or even a fun little personal project.

DIY Brushstroke Mini Bowls

See the full tutorial here  {they’re so easy!}

A new month means new desktop wallpapers from Smashing Magazine–here’s a little teaser.

Be sure to check them all out here!

happy almost easter!

It’s April!  Agh!

But you know what the beginning of the month means!  Free Stuff!

For starters, Ez over at Creature Comforts  posted the most recent printable calendar.  So cute!

Then we’ve got the newest desktop calendar wallpapers available for download at Smashing Magazine.  They really have a bunch of great options this month!

I have this one on our desktop and it is so helpful for organizing icons!

…and I have this one on our laptop because I love the bunting 🙂

There’s also a free print available for download at Jones Design Company.

{it’s lookin’ a lot like an “April Showers” theme around here, huh?}

…and finally, a bunch of super cute Easter printables from Mooo.

{you’ll have to type in mooo.com.au/easter-printables because wordpress won’t let me share this link}

Happy Downloading!

tools for bloggers

Aside from being a blogger, I love to read other blogs, and I’ve noticed that there are a lot of people in a similar situation right now–they’ve got blog funk.  This is surprising considering it’s Spring and Spring is usually when creative juices are really flowing, but it seems that a lot of us in blog world are just in a slump right now.

Ez over at Creature Comforts is doing a series right now on “Overcoming Bloggers Block.”  Aside from being helpful for bloggers, her tips wouldn’t be bad for even a non-blogger to try.  Check out step 1 HERE. {be sure to peruse around while you’re there–great stuff!}.

Here is one of her daily color inspirations–I love the birds!

Another great thing going on is at Harbour Breeze.  Rita is doing a 7 day series on “Selling Handmade Online”.  There will be different guest bloggers each day for the different topics which are as follows:

Day 1: “Meet the Teachers”
{4 bloggers tell their handmade business stories.}
Day 2: “Product Branding”
{graphic design and store banners}
Day 3: “Organizing a Workspace”
{when you live where you work!}
Day 4: “Presenting your Product”
{tips for photographing}
Day 5: “Wrapping up a Sale”
{packaging for shipment}
Day 6: “Promoting your Shop”
{getting the word out}
Day 7: “Balancing it all”
{multitasking in life!}
These helpful tips could definitely be a way to get {us} bloggers out of that funk.  Even if you’re not a blogger and you don’t sell anything handmade online, the guest bloggers are all great and have wonderful blogs that you might enjoy reading so be sure to stop by!
On one last random note, have any of you ever heard of Tocca perfumes?  I found this sampler on Pinterest today and was thinking of ordering it.
Anyway, happy Tuesday, friends!
