Things I Love | Makeup

So, I’m going to start by saying that this post is absolutely a shameful plug for makeup that my friend sells.  100%.  But, I’m not really worried about it because I use it and I love it….and I wish I’d known about it earlier.

In-home parties used to be really popular; everyone was doing them.  I remember basically getting burnt out on them because I had so many and finally just had to stop.  While this makeup is sold through a distributor and not a store, you don’t have to go through the hassle of hosting or attending an in-home party.  You can just order online from a rep and your makeup is delivered straight to your door.

The brand is called Younique makeup.  I admit, the name is a little cheesy, but the products are totally legit.  When the before and after pictures started popping up in my Facebook feed, I was immediately sold (which doesn’t happen often).  They have the most amazing mascara–it seriously makes your eyes look like you have fake lashes.  I’ve spent a lot of money on mascara–tried all the drug store brands and then went through a few of the more expensive brands like Benefit and Tarte.  They would work pretty well for about a month, but always required a lot of coats, so I went through them quickly.  My first tube of Younique’s Moodstruck mascara lasted for close to 3 months with full applications pretty much every day and the results were much better!

Here’s a picture of me with my regular mascara (Rimmel Scandal Eyes) and then the Younique mascara.

The application is a two-step process: there’s a collagen gel that is applied first (which is basically like your regular mascara) and then tiny fibers that you brush on second.  The fibers stick to the gel and thicken and lengthen your lashes.  You can re-apply as much as you want, depending on how big you want to go.  Younique just released a new formula for the mascara that seems to make the lashes curl more too. (I didn’t use an eyelash curler in this picture).

They also carry other makeup products including a BB cream that’s really popular…and they’re just starting in on the skincare.  They currently offer a cleanser and moisturizer that people seem to love (Awake & Brilliant).  The moisturizer helps with stretch marks, dark circles, scars and blemishes, and has even helped with eczema.

One more thing that a lot of people appreciate is the fact that all of their makeup is naturally based.  The fibers in their mascara are made of green tea leaves!

Even if you have a current make-up and/or skin care line that you like, it might be worth trying some of the Younique products.  I’m pretty picky and so far, I love them!

Ok.  Shameless plug over.

Happy Wednesday!

Recent Doings | Photography

Like I mentioned earlier, I like to play around in photography.  There are so many great photographers out there with incredible talent and I just love drooling over their photos.  I think I like photography because it captures a whole story in just one moment.  There are beautiful things that happen around us all the time…but they are only there for an instant and, if you’re not paying attention, are easy to miss.  If that moment is captured on camera, though, it can be enjoyed forever.

My sweet niece was born a few months ago and my sister-in-law wanted some updated family photos–here are a few shots from their session.

If you’re interested in seeing more of my photography ramblings, I’ve added a Photography tab to the blog with full sessions.  I’d love for you to check it out!  This full session is here.

all women stalk

I admit it.  I am beauty-skill impaired.  I can’t ever get my hair to do anything “really cute” and my make-up application is what you would call “routine.”  Enter All Women Stalk.

I found this sight through Pinterest (of course!) and fell in love!  What better resource for a girl who has 4 hairstyles and basic make-up application skills.  There are all sorts of useful tips and tricks.  Here’s screen shot of the home page:

Aside from make-up and beauty tips, there are travel tips, workout regimens (body specific and target area specific), fashion finds, DIY projects, relationship advice, gift ideas, and book lists.  You (and I) could spend hours reading through all of the articles.  So head on over and check it out.

Be sure to pace yourself, though.  You could get sucked-in if you’re not careful!

Have fun!

have you peeqed?

I recently found a new website called sneakpeeq. It’s a shopping site that has daily features and a variety of different boutiques.  You earn credits or badges by “peeqing” at the prices of items and automatically receive a $10 discount on your first purchase by registering.  It’s a totally girly site-makeup, jewelry, clothing, specialty food items!  I haven’t purchased anything yet, but I keep checking-in to see if there’s a particularly cool item that I need.

Be sure to check it out here.  Here’s a preview of a few of the great things they’ve got

oh, the places we’ll go

Are you ever scrolling through Pinterest, watching a commercial, or browsing a magazine and stumble upon one of those snapshot pictures that only show a storefront or a sidewalk or a small spot in the sun…and even though it doesn’t show the whole thing, you know that you’d love to be there?  And you have no idea where it actually is, but wherever it is, it just looks awesome.

I keep having those moments.

{Maybe I’ll create a pin board named “I don’t know where this is, but I want to go there”}

I feel like it’s been so long since I’ve had a vacation…that was actually a vacation and not a to-do trip, and when I see pictures like these, it makes me crave one.

What do you think?  Wanna go?!
