hooked on hooks

I don’t know about you, but I am ready to de-clutter!  After pumpkins and candy corn, Christmas trees and garland, I’m wanting everything clean, neat, and organized.  Over the Christmas holiday, I cleaned out my closet and my husband’s closet but, since the decorations have come down, I’m ready to get the rest of the house into a neater feel.

A friend of mine recently added a row of hooks to the wall by her front door.  I don’t usually hang much by the front door–living in Florida, we’re not constantly toting around coats, scarves, and hats…and neither are our guests, but I still liked the hook look.  And it doesn’t necessarily have to go by the front door, either, I’ve decided.  The bathroom, of course, is another option, but in a mudroom, bedroom, or closet work as well.  So, today, I’m hooked on hooks.

Here’s a little inspiration for my daily obsession.

I saw the greatest headboard just recently in Serena & Lily using pallets

Then, I noticed that my parents had a bunch of them at their house from their new sod.  I don’t have a need for a headboard right now but I loved the look of the pallets so much that I kept trying to think of some other ways to incorporate them…

Basket Case

I spotted one of these the other day and coveted.  I’m a sucker for storage tools and I just thought a wire locker basket like this would be so useful…in so many places.

 The one I saw was used as a catch-all in the back of a designer’s SUV, but there are definitely various other decorative possibilities.

Happy President’s Day!

Simple Storage Solutions

I’ve got the itch to re-decorate, re-arrange, and remove, so I’ve started looking for inspiration.  Everyone always needs extra storage so if I find a dual-purpose piece, I never oppose. 

In my hunting, I found this great idea from BHG (where else?).  I’ve been wanting to replace the table in our entryway for awhile with something a little more casual and I really like this idea! Storage plus casual plus inexpensive.  I like it!

Something Old turned Something New

If you’re already thinking about Spring cleaning and organizing (with all of the new additions from Christmas), even though winter has hardly begun, here’s a cute way to add some shelving to a tight space:

 Give a retired ladder a new life and add storage space and vintage charm to any room. Simply screw vent grates in place on each rung. Paint the ladder a color that matches the rest of your decor.

I discovered the cutest little antique store in my town this summer and was finally able to check it out this week.  They have great stuff for great prices!  I got one of these there…

…and I’m super excited about it because I will be able to use it for so many cute things.
